Villegas strikes double blow at NIGHT of the JUMPs in Linz
Linz, 21st January 2012: Saturday’s freestyle motocross spectacular in the Austrian city of Linz was also the second round of the UEM Freestyle MX European Championship. In the battle for points, the twelve FMX riders were determined to showcase their most extreme tricks. The crowd were shocked to see Australian FMX sensation Clinton Moore take a tumble performing a 360. Maxime Gregoire (FRA) also came a cropper trying to pull off the Volt body varial, but undaunted, the Frenchman went on to claim victory in the ensuing Whip contest.
For the second day running, local hero Thomas Wirnsberger got the better of fellow Austrian Martin Schenk; he pulled off a Cordova Flip in the TAG Heuer double-up to qualify an agonising seventh and narrowly miss out on his first NIGHT of the JUMPs final. His loss was Hannes Ackermann’s gain, as the German rider put in one of his best runs in recent years. NIGHT of the JUMPs Linz 2012
In 2011, the honor of hosting the NIGHT of the JUMPs curtain-raiser went to the Tips Arena in Linz, where the world’s best freestyle motocross riders fought an almighty battle in the first two rounds of the UEM Freestyle MX World Championships. World’s edgiest freestyle motocross series embarks on new record-breaking season
In 2012, NIGHT of the JUMPs enters the twelfth year of its successful run. From a sporting perspective, this most extreme series sets the global standard for freestyle motocross. Last year, it staged not only the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship but also the UEM European Freestyle MX Championships. Al Red Bull: New Year. No Limits, la star del freestyle motocross Robbie Maddison e l’asso della motoslitta Levi LaVallee sono volati nel 2012 con un salto di oltre 300 piedi (125 metri) sopra le acque di San Diego Bay in California, USA, atterrando al sicuro e registrando un nuovo record del mondo di salto su una moto e una motoslitta.
LaVallee, 29 anni e proveniente da Longville, Minn., aveva già tentato il record lo scorso anno – prima che un grave incidente in prova lo costrinse a cambiare i piani. The world’s oldest and most extreme freestyle motocross series has produced many heroic battles this year that are worthy of the silver screen, particularly in the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship. During the last few years, NIGHT of the JUMPS has witnessed the rise of many freestyle motocross icons.
